On 19th June 2008, Wicklow County Enterprise Board organised the Celebrating Enterprise event where they presented awards to 10 of the leading enterpreneurs in the Wicklow area. The event was hosted by television presenter Anna Nolan.

Determined to one day own top spot in the golfing industry, college friends Brendan Moore, James Dowling and Andrew Thompson founded Vicarious Golf.

The business specialises in the design, manufacture and commercialisation of high-quality golfing equipment.

Vicarious Golf’s first product, the V-Towel Elite was voted ‘Best New Product’ out of 397 entries by a panel made up of PGA professionals, members of the press and senior purchasers of large chain stores at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida.

The three directors of Vicarious Golf spent a year developing the business idea through participation on the Enterprise Platform Programme based at the Institute of Technology Carlow.

The company has now located at a 5000 sq foot purpose built premises in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow. With four additional products to be launched in Munich this October. With a strong emphasis on intellectual property and export markets, Vicarious Golf is an emerging Irish company well worth watching.
