Do you get fined for hanging out at British Properties golf courses…?

Posted on December 1st, 2009 by admin

even though they’re empty? I mean, they’re completely open, and it’s wide open space that could easily be a nice park. If you do get fined for that, I really hate golf courses then. It has Paladin security or something does that mean if you step on the grass an alarm goes off???

They look a lot like parks but since golf courses are private property, then yes, of course they can throw you out if they want to. I mean, if you have a big front lawn and someone decides it looks like a park, is it okay with you if everyone stops and has picnics and plays frisbee on your front lawn? Probably not. I have no idea how the security works, but most private clubs keep a pretty close eye on who looks like a member and who doesn’t. If you’re out on a golf course, not golfing, and aren’t using landscape equipment, I think you’d kind of stick out and someone is going to wonder if you belong.

They will probably nicely ask you to leave and walk you off the property. If you ignore them they will probably call the police and you could be charged with trespassing.

    - That is private property.
    - You are not a paying customer, thus not welcome on private property
    - Security will ask you to leave on behalf of the owners.
    - If you fail to leave, they will call the police this situation will elevate to the next level.
    - The police will come and they have many options at their discretion:
    1. Ask you to leave and situation is over if you do.
    2. Arrest you for trespassing and note once arrested: common law allows them to search you and if you have anything illegal such as a joint or whatever, you will be charged.
    3. Depending on the police force, you may get tasered if non compliance to their demands
