question of sincerity in solidarity?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

concrete examples:
a bishop speaks his concern about poverty but he has his own nutritionist for dietary purposes. but come to think of it: mother teresa, mahatma gandhi, bishop romero didnt have nutritionists.they faced their mission and their death.

a priest talks about the economic situation, global awareness, migrant workers, but after the mass he will rest in his air-conditioned room.

a president of a certain country is giving donations and raising funds for victims of calamities but this president cannot and will never sell his/her properties, haciendas, golf course, ranch for these people.

now, we face the victims in china earthquake, the cyclone victims in myanmar, poverty in africa, human trafficking in vietnam. i ask myself, how, and in what way, can i express my solidarity with these people everyday. how sincere i am.

it’s very easy to donate some money and after that you can go and drive your brand new BMW. is that real discipleship?

friends, i will listen..

Sounds like a question I asked.

If I could, I’d drop all that I have and go the way of the apostles and go to hard to get to places to spread the Gospel and to help out.

Since I can not physically do that, I offer up all my discomforts and my illness, I pray a lot too. Every little bit does help

One can only do what’s within themselves.
I can’t question any positive action done by others, I could discourage what they do accomplish.
    It’s all good.

I think it is a very strange coincidence that all the people in America were given economic stimulus money at the same time these disasters happened. Maybe we should look at that as a ’sign’ of how best we should use them. What do you think? Do you think it is a very strange coincidence? Or a recommendation by God of a choice we can make for our fellow man?

Do what you can with what you have…and give all that’s in your power to give. You can’t give to the whole world…but even if it’s just helpinga homeless man out on the street, you’re making a difference in someone’s life.

You can’t judge the priest who talks about global warming and migrant workers and then goes to rest in an air conditioned home…when he actually may not be a hypocrite because he could have actually given millions of dollars to those same people earlier that day or week.

Then he has every right to talk about it.
And the rest goes for anyone else.

You shouldn’t call anyone a hypocrite unless you have proof they’re actually being one.
And someone resting in an air-conditioned home that maybe God has blessed them with is not necessarily being a hypocrite if they are practicing what they preach.

I don’t have to sell everything I own just to love the less fortunate.

The bible says, If I give my body to be burned and sell all of my goods to the poor, but have not love? I am NOTHING.

    Now that’s saying something.
