You might not like my answer but: there is now and has always existed in this country a major undercurrent of racism. There will be people in Washington who will seek to damage Obama strictly based on his race. I know its a shocker since this is America- but he has even more to watch out for than the previous 43 presidents. Keep in mind the people we are talking about are mostly over 50, not like these little Yahoo kiddies.

Unfortunately Obama is getting more threats than any president-elect ever has. His team knows that some whack-job might try and get close to him by trying to get a job in the team. So they are scrutinizing anyone who might be having contact in any way.

And giving your gun information to the representative of the president is not the same as giving a hacker your card number or someone just walking to the local courthouse and getting registration numbers. If they wanted they could get the registration number for any registered firearm in the country whether or not the owner was applying for a job with them or not. And I bet they run that check with everyone applying and see if it matches the information the applicant gave.

Too bad it has to be that way but with all the threats they really can’t take any chances.

You and I might not be able to get that info the president who has the secret service and the CIA and the BATF working for him can and have been doing so for quite some time.

um, there are all sorts of crazy questions in there.

Have you ever worked for a foreign government?

Have you ever lived abroad?

Have you kept a diary that could embarrass you?

Do you have hired help at home?

There’s no reason to vew this thing through the lens of gun control.

Thorough background checks are standard and easily justified for these sorts of jobs

If you look at all the questions you can tell that the questions are aimed principally at whether or not there is going to be any scandals coming out of any candidate. If someone has fishy guns it doesn't look good. If someone lied on their past resumes it doesn't look good. If someone is behind on their taxes, etc.

He wants the gun info because during his debates against Clinton he clearly stated he was for banning handgun sales and limiting all gun sales. Consequently he can't have any gun owners working for him directly.
