Could this be a lawsuit? Chinese drywall?

A few years ago my parents bought a gorgeous home at the Parkland golf and country club in Parkland Florida. The house alone was $2 million and last Spring they poured another $300-400,000 remodeling it to give the inside a "roman empire" appearance.
My mom has never had any medical problems and the only thing she would take every morning were multivitamins. Last Fall, we noticed she had a horrible cough which would end up turning into coughing fits that sounds like she can’t catch her breath throughout the night and she always feels horrible. It never got better, only worse and she has been sick since last Fall. She now has a bag full of 11 different prescription drugs and now has to has an inhaler. Her doctor’s couldn’t figure out exactly what was wrong with her until now.
Apparently, when their home was built Chinese drywall was used and according to an article in chinesedrywall.com…..
"compounds as butanethial, carbonyl sulfide, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptan, methylthio pyridone, SULFURIC ACID, sulfurous acid, sulfur dioxide and stronium sulfide have been found in Chinese drywall. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has declared many of these compounds to be toxic, however, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) states that the levels found in Chinese drywall are not high enough to present “an imminent or chronic health hazard at this time.” It is not clear whether this finding takes into consideration long-term exposure and the combined exposure to multiple compounds.
……her doctor’s say that her home has made her sick. My mom is the only one who is there ALL the time. She works at home, my dad goes away for months at a time to Kazakhstan for the family’s adoption business, my sister lives with her boyfriend and I am in college, only home on the weekends.
My mom went to see a lawyer the other day and she wants to bring W.I.C. (property builders) to court. The house needs to be torn down. Could we win this and have my parents pretty much lost all of their money they have put into this house?
to begin, it sounds like this would be a class action type suit. it seems very possible, I would contact a large enough firm that has the resources to pursue the builder, supplier, manufacturer, etc…
the builder should be given the opportunity to remediate the construction situation… they do not have tear down the entire house… just remove and replace the affected drywall.
