Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

http://www.GoPuntaCanaRealEstate.com. The Fishing Lodge is a wondrous undertaking set on 30 oceanfront acres within Cap Cana, the finest resort in the Caribbean. This one-of-a-kind development rests in the beautiful landscapes on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic and will be the countrys largest private community. 30,000 acres will be home to four luxury hotels, one five-star condo residence, five golf courses (three of which are Jack Nicklaus Signature designs), an 800-slip marina, an extravagant collection of fine and casually-themed dining facilities, and a plethora of choices for quaint boutique shopping experiences. Construction at Cap Cana began in 2003, and the developers vision of an unparalleled Caribbean resort is now becoming a reality.

Cap Cana has attracted buyers from all corners of the globe, including a substantial percentage from the U.S. with specific interest in the fivestar condo hotel called the Alta Bella Fishing Lodge. The Fishing Lodge at Cap Cana is set for completion in late 2008, and construction is currently under way. A limited number of condo residences will be created
featuring a seventeenth-century Venetian theme. The units will be built on low-rise docks that will be surrounded by custom-designed pools and will overlook Cap Canas mega-yacht marina. One building showcases an infinity pool that spans 400 feet across the entire first floor and cascades eloquently over the marina wall.

The range of floor plans includes one-, two, and three-bedroom configurations. Each home will be completely furnished and will offer an array of five-star hotel services. The owners will also have the option of participating in the hotels rental program and in doing so, the maintenance fees are waived. The condos start at $420,000 and the
owners will not pay any property tax for ten years and there are no closing costs. Cap Cana is only eight minutes from the Punta Cana Intertnational Airport.

Breech of Golf Ettiquete?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

If you’ve seen me post before, you probably know that i’m a beginner golfer. On sunday, I hit the links with my friend. We had fun and i shot a 13 over on the back 9 which was a good day for me :D .

However when we got back to the clubhouse my mood turned immediately sour. I was confronted by the manager person, who accused my friend and I of defacing property as well as impolite behavior reguarding speed of play.
So here’s what happened:

On the 1st 9 holes, i’ll admit we were going slower than average. I think we finished in 2 1/2 hours or so. there was a group of 4 gentlemen behind us who were obviously belligerent drunk. They caught up to us on the 8th hole. we negated to let them pass, played thru the 9th.

After 9, we went to the clubhouse and bought a couple waters. The group that was behind us proceeded to the 10th. When we got back out there, after about 45 minutes, we caught up to them. We were playing good golf at the time. on the 16th, we found ourselves waiting behind them as they were chatting before teeing off.

We decided we didn’t want to place them in the same predicament, so we just elected to skip the 16th.

Somehow, on the 18th, they caught back up. It was one of my last shots of the day. An approach shot from about 60 yds. I took a practice swing, taking a small divot. The other group, now behind, informed me to replace the divot. I did. My friend and I putted, then headed back to the clubhouse, where the confrontation with the manager occured.

Q1. Were we in the wrong to neglect them the opportunity to play the 9th hole before us?

Q2. Is it ever a breach of etiquette to skip a hole rather than wait for the group ahead?

Q3. Obviously, some jackass from the group behind called the clubhouse, because the manager made a direct statement about me tearing up the fairway on the 18th. So on an approach shot, should you take your practice swing w/o a divot? Was the man in the group behind in the wrong for calling the clubhouse about an error that i fixed?
Clarification: We didn’t spend 45 minutes @ the turn. What i meant was that 45 minutes after the turn, we caught back up to them.
Clarification #2: they did hit at us. They did aim at us. 1 of their drives hit off a hill and drilled my friend in the back of the head. So maybe now you can see why we did take our time.

Q1. Yes. You let faster groups play through whenever possible. If you knew they were waiting, you should have waved them up. If you played in 2 1/2 hours, then you were playing VERY slow, ESPECIALLY if you were a twosome. If you got caught by a drunk foursome, then you must have been playing slow on purpose (hitting extra balls; reputting; etc.). If you’re out practicing, then fine, but let others play through. If you’re looking for a lost ball and there is a group behind you, let them play through while you’re looking. And, as you said, they caught you on the 8th so it’s not like you were already on 9 and making the turn.

Q2. It can be a breach of etiquette to skip a hole IF it affects other people’s play. Otherwise, I’d say no. But if you skipped up and within a hole the other guys are waiting again, you’re an ass. You already know you play ridiculously slow so why would you even attempt it? Maybe if you skipped up two holes. You skipped one hole and within just one hole they were already waiting on you??

Q3. You can take a divot on a practice. That’s not the problem. But if you didn’t fix it or took 10 swings with a bunch of divots, there’s a problem. Most courses want you to sand the divots, not replace them. As long as you’re doing that, it’s probably okay. But the guys were still pissed because you jumped in front of them and then appeared to slow play them on purpose. Based on your admitted attitude on 8/9, I’d guess you probably took your sweet time finishing.

You’re lucky. If you did that to me on 18, I’d have hit into you…and maybe even aimed for you. Be glad they just called the proshop.

You should go out of your way to be extra nice when playing golf, even if others aren’t. Letting people play through is just part of golf. You let "faster groups" play through regardless of their size. The exception MIGHT be if the field is just jammed up and there is nowhere to go. If it’s a faster single or twosome behind you and the field is tight, you could even offer to combine groups and play together since it’d probably be the same pace.

And there’s NO excuse for you taking 2 1/2 hours for nine holes. You played 150m/9holes or about 17m/hole as a two some on the front and then you imply that you played 45m/6 holes or 7 1/2m/hole on the back. Something isn’t right.

Hopefully your concern about if you’re doing the right thing is genuine. If so, now you know. Otherwise, quit being an ass. Other than the divot thing, I’m glad the manager got onto you. There are a few kids at my home course that think they own the place and finally the staff suspended some of them. You might have been affecting more than just the immediate group behind you, too.

What is the cause of several very distinct weather patterns. (See details for full question)?

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 by admin

You are a meteorologist responsible for reporting the weather for a local TV channel. Over the course of the year, various unusual weather patterns occur. The town experiences an eclipse during the day, an asteroid or comet falls in town square, golf sized hail falls, and a hurricane causes a lot of property damage. Explain how each of these events occurs.

An eclipse during the day? Sorry, not my problem, I am a meteorologist, not an astronomer.

Asteroid falling down? Sorry, not my problem, I am a meteorologist, not an astronomer.

Golf sized hail? Hail comes when the difference of temperature between the ground and aloft is very big. That works like a chimney, the air rises, moisture condenses, form clouds then rain and … it still rises until it freezes and comes down as hail. Big hail = big temperature difference and much moisture near the ground.

Hurricane? That happens when the temperature of the south-east of the north Atlantic reaches 27 C or above. Why is that? Again, great difference of temperature and much moisture. You must also remember that technically a hurricane can happen just anywhere because it is defined as a wind that reaches hurricane force, which is force 12, the highest one on the Beaufort scale.

golf experts please help?

Posted on February 19th, 2010 by admin

ok, we want to build a low ish end driving range, we have the property, we have the $$ and its a good location. its in our field (that why its low end) but it would be 250+ yards long and it would have those high poles with the net. my question is: how much would it cost? poles, having the crane come in, the net, and golf balls. also any good sites for bulk golf balls or a site that supplies ( in canada) those really high poles / nets. thanks for reading
also mats, where can i find those

Contact the people who build and design driving ranges. Perhaps they are listed in the telephone directory or you can find them on line. Get a quote. That is the best way to find out.

Should I buy a place in Palm Springs or somewhere in Arizona?

Posted on February 17th, 2010 by admin

I’m a Canadian (Calgary) looking to buy a recreational property in Palm Springs, CA or somewhere in Arizona. I golf a lot so thats a main feature, but I am also young… palm springs seems to be for older people. Anyone have any recommendation and why?

Arizona would be a better choice. Probably either Phoenix or Tucson. Lots of golf courses, an a government that isn’t as crazy as California’s..
