An example of a variable cost for a golf course would be?

Posted on February 17th, 2011 by admin

a. insurance payments
b. the amount they pay to lease lawn mowers
c. the property taxes they pay
d. the amount they pay their workers in wages

This is up for interpretation depending on what you view as fixed and variable I would say they are all fixed unless the pay was for temp wokers, generally permanent ones have a fixed salary.

For a golf course, probably "d" because the workers are probably hourly and would, therefore, go up or down depending on the season and weather. All the others cannot be altered by production (open more hours or less will pay same in taxes, leases and insurance so these are most definitely "fixed") and that is the definition of fixed vs variable.

Is there an off-road ATV powered by battery?

Posted on February 3rd, 2011 by admin

I’m looking into using a work horse type of vehicle to use around a heavily wooded property. It will be strictly used by senior citizens to travel around the property easily. Is there a brand of off-roading 4wheelers that is battery powered? For example: Gators, Yamaha, EZ-GO.

I know EZ-GO has battery powered golf carts but I am looking for something that can handle rougher terrain than what you would find on a golf course.

Thanks!

Hog hunters/trappers, if you trap for other people, how much do you charge per head?

Posted on December 15th, 2010 by admin

I trap on several pieces of property, including two golf courses and I only charge $15/head. I really only charge because I want the land owners to think that they’re getting a service…

$250 per hog.

agronomy qiestions for golf?

Posted on October 12th, 2010 by admin

Why do golf courses use hybrid bermuda grass and what properties do they have? Specifically tif dwarf and 419 bermuda.

What are some types of grasses used on golf course greens and Why are they used. What geographic area?

What are some types of grasses used in certain areas and what are the risks of using the wrong grass in the wrong area?

Lastly, What are the key elements needed for healthy turf?

Thanks. I need this for work. I know shit about grass.

Im not too into the course grass side of things when it comes to golf but I can do my best to help here.

The two most common types of grass for greens is bermuda and bent.

Bentgrass is usually used on greens that have to withstand cooler temps (whether year round or durring winter) The midwest and northern courses usually have this for greens.

Bermuda is usually on the southern courses where heat is a objective year round, it can(and always is) be mown very short and these greens are always fast and tough to read. I personally hate bermuda greens, but thats just cuz im a midwest guy. Poa anna greens also thrive in warmer weather and these greens suck too imo.

What do you think of my campaign for Mayor?

Posted on October 10th, 2010 by admin

I’m running for Mayor and I advocate much lower taxes
Privatization of parks, pools and golf courses
No property tax
And of course much lowered government spending
I don’t live in huge city so I have a fairly good chance of being elected if I play my cards right.
You pay money to go to the park when you pay taxes. You would pay to get in. It wouldn’t be a large fee.

I like it. Tax cuts will help stimulate the economy and make people happy.

What could we use to mark trees for our target disc golf course that people won’t be able to remove easily?

Posted on October 4th, 2010 by admin

We have a home made disc golf course in a private park, and we mark the trees with clear duct tape, because we don’t want to damage property with spray paint or anything like that. The problem is that punk kids rip off the tape and leave it on the ground. Any ideas for something we could use that would be harder to rip off? We want it to be possible to get off because people take grad photos and stuff down there, but tough enough that the kids will be less likely to bother with it

If you have a decent drill with which you could screw in a few long anchors, you could quite easily attach your own targets in a myriad of different ways. The kids will be less inclined to bother attempting to remove them when they find they need a power tool to do so, and, if you need to remove them yourself, the screw holes you would put in the tree would be too narrow either to damage the tree or to be seen by any casual observer. I know it’s not the most convenient of suggestions, but hey, if you can use my idea, I’m happy to try to help.
