What of this Murder of Hispanic man in Phoenix classed as a hate crime?

County prosecutors have labeled the May 6 murder of a Phoenix man a hate crime, the Arizona Republic reports. Gary Thomas Kelley, 50, is accused of shooting his neighbor Juan Varela in the face after shouting racial slurs, and then telling Varela’s brother to "hurry up and go back to Mexico or you’re gonna die" while brandishing his gun. Kelley allegedly walked over to Varela’s property to assault him, report Michael Kiefer and Michael Feraresi of the Republic.
Police at first characterized the crime as a dispute among feuding neighbors, and the Maricopa County District Attorney’s office only recently ruled it a hate crime. The hate crime designation could mean a tougher sentence for Kelley, a retired golf cart repairman.
The victim’s brother, Antonio Varela, contends that the assault grew out an atmosphere of hostility toward Hispanics that has gripped the state since the passage of SB 1070, the controversial state law cracking down on illegal immigration.
"1070 is what caused all this. You could just see the tension in the air," Varela told Phoenix’s local Fox affiliate. Juan Varela was a third-generation Mexican-American.

Also I say SB 1070 is a good thing! You can cry and whine all you want but it’s long over due.
On the flip side I also say anyone that even mentions SB1070 in a bad light without bringing up Oklahoma is a full on racist in my book simply because Oklahoma was the first state to adopt similar legislation to address the illegal immigration problem there but do you ever hear a thing about Oklahoma? nope only because it’s not on the border! But now Oklahoma is going to get even tougher.
And no SB 1070 didn’t cause this, the arrogance and ignorance of the latino community did with their idea of ruining a good thing, thus all good things come to an end, so get used to it!

I do not think 1070 is what caused all this each of them had an ongoing dispute. It was only a matter of time before one or the other went off..

Why do we never see the hate crimes law applied to minorities when they kill a White person?
It seems like the law is only applied against Whites, but never the other way around.
I maintain that every time a White person is mugged or robbed by a minority, especially in White areas, that that is a Hate Crime.
It is obvious they left their own area, came to a White area, and deliberately targets Whites because they suppose, due to our race, that we would have more money.
Since we are chosen by race due to stereotypes of our race that makes it a hate crime by definition.

Absolutely NO.
They lived next to each other for 8 years. I am taking a leap of faith here, but I would guess their animosity towards each other started LONG before SB1070. Hate crime? Neighbors shoot neighbors all the time without it being labeled a hate crime. The fact that a slur was shouted makes it a hate crime? I don’t think so. Hate crimes are defined by a random targeting of a specific stereo type. This was far from random.
8 years of ongoing feuding was the cause. Not SB1070.

I can understand the anger. I have felt it myself, all the reasons given, whites have it all. None of these people thing the whites are responsible for the taxes that pay the bill for the illegals, most of the military happens to be white. People making decisions for the way we work are white with a sprinkle of blacks now and then and an asian with 1 in 35 or 40. The whites have worked hard for what they have, parents give up vacations, cars, and make a deposit into the kids college fund. Our colleges are full of people who needed a fire rescue to get some of them out of high school. Now they want college to give them a break. I say 100% of americans should come out for the new law in AZ and send these bastards back to their homeland or MX if that is the route taken to arrive.
